UK mum’s and dad’s who use child care facilities?
Would mum’s and dad’s please take a moment to list the the things you find the most desirable, regarding aspects of day nurseries? and the place them in order of most importance.
I am hoping to make some observations in order to complete my business plan and hopefully take these things into account for future business investmenent.
Please list in order of MOST important first leading to LEAST important
1) cost (bear in mind Tax Credits)
2) Diet and Nutrition
3) Activities and Play
4) Staff personalities
5) Locality to home
6) Locality to work
7) Method and frequency of payment i.e cheque/ cash/weekly/monthly
Outside play area
9) inside play area
10) Safety and security
11) Pre- school teacher
12) Awards and Certificates of regulatory bodies
13) Any other points

i would rather pay a bit extra for good care.
the staff need to get on well with the children. they should have a low turnover of staff.
i found having the nursery closer to work was better for me, as i had to be in work at certain times.
does the price include meals?
does the price include nappies etc if needed?
check the policies and procedures folder and ask the staff what they would do in an emergency. eg, a child has gone through a door while someone else comes in.
ask other parents how happy their kids are!
the nurseries i used were all monthly direct debit.
ask about holidays, changing sessions and illness. you will often have to pay, even if you don’t show up.
tax credits can pay upto 75% of the costs, i think.
