Famous Business Plan Quotes

If God’s omnipotent why didn’t he start the universe out in the first place so it would be the way he wants it?
The full quote is from Carl Sagan, who was a famous scientist who had a popular TV Show in 1980′s:
“If God is omnipotent and omniscient, why didn’t he start the universe out in the first place so it would come out the way he wants? Why’s he constantly repairing and complaining? No, there’s one thing the Bible makes clear: The biblical God is a sloppy manufacturer. He’s not good at design, he’s not good at execution. He’d be out of business if there was any competition.”
Well, the way I think I would answer that is, since God is omnipotent, maybe he didn’t want things to go perfectly. Right? Maybe that was the plan. What do you think of Carl Sagan’s reasoning?
Your question might be best-answered by a study of Gnosticism, an offshoot religion that’s been around since some time before the first Council of Nicea. Both Gnosticism and Christianity have roots in the ancient Sumerian religion which preceded them both and which even preceeded Judaism. Basically Gnostics believe that the Creator God of Genesis, whom they call the Demiurge, is a benevolent but imperfect god who inadvertently created the imperfect world in which we now live. Worth a read.
