Business Plan Writer Jobs

Working in place of college?

I was planning on becoming a writer and studying this in college, but my parents always come down on me about it. I was planning on applying to UT, but if I can’t pursue this course or can’t make it (though I’m sure I will) I was thinking of working two jobs, then taking up my dad’s business (which I would hate too). Should I try to do another course in college or should I try taking a classes at local community colleges after finding these 2 jobs? Keep in mind that writing is my passion.

Making a living at writing has about the same odds of success as becoming a professional athlete these days. Your parents are right. If you feel passion about being a writer, then go for it, but you need to understand you may have to starve for a very, very long time before you find success, and the odds are stacked against you finding it at all. My advice to you is, don’t work, and take classes from different disciplines. This will add to your overall knowledge base and experience. Not only will this make you a more well rounded individual, it might give you insight into what things interest you. The writing will be there, and you can take some writing classes, they do have those, but you should prepare for a career in something and do the writing in you spare time. That way if you’re good it will be great, but if it doesn’t (and remember for the vast majority of aspiring writers it doesn’t) you can still support yourself, and a family if such a thing ever interests you. Good Luck, and listen to your parents they wouldn’t suggest these things to hurt you, they are looking out for you future, they have a LOT OF TIME AND MONEY invested in you and your future.
