Business Plan Publicity

I am thinking of quitting my job in radio sales to start a modeling and publicity agency from my home.?
I thinks its time to start my owne business. I have a BA in communication and experience working at previous modeling agency. I am a thesis away from completing a MA in adult ed. I live in Atlanta where there are several others pursuing this same interests. I have a saved a years worth of living expenses to make this happen, but people say that Im crazy for quitting my job selling AM radio, of which I no longer have interests. I am also wondering if I should invest in office space to have a more professional environment for clients and models? Should I leap out on faith with no designated incoming coming in or signed contracts? It’s not like i’m making a heck of alot in radio sales, but I am skilled in writing proposals and convincing clients to buy my products. I’ve purched every help book I can think of in the areas of freelancing, pr, consulting, event planning, marketing, etc.
WOW. That’s a hard one. Do you have any models to “sell”? You have to have ‘products’. Who/what are you going to ‘sell’?? You have to have a portfolio of work for potential clients. Are you a photographer, and if not-do you know one who will do portfolios for your models if they don’t have one? A model without their “book” is like an eagle without ‘wings’. Publicity agent….is just that. Get a body of work together, and then go forward. Also-you are in radio sales…use this as a stepping stone for your business. Make friends witht the right people. I would call a Publicity Agent in your area and ask for a job-then you can learn the business inside/out. It is not an easy business. *Or call an agency in NY, or Atlanta…find some #’s on the internet before you take such a leap. *Working for an agency is the best bet….if you think you’re good enough to start your own company-try your wings at an established agcy first>see how you do then consider taking that plunge.
