What are my chances at Washington University in St. Louis?
I just sent in my Early decision application yesterday morning. I’ll give a few stats.
3.65 GPA
34 ACT
Volunteer at a local hospital
Work as a certified Nursing assistant
I am an editor and the business manager of my school’s nationally recongnized publications department.
I am doing independant research looking for a correlation in episodic binge drinking
I place at the state track meet and plan to participate in college.
If i had to rate my essays from 1-10, They would undoubtably be 11.
My teachers told my that my reccomendations were glowing.
The only thing going against me is my class rank. I think i am in the 80th percentile.
Thanks.
Washington University is a tough admit…but you should at least get wait listed. One of the reasons that WU has become so hot recently is the quality of its Medical School. WU Med. is one of the best, if not THE best, medical school in the USA.
Class rank? Forget that…meaningless…unless that number happens to be #1 in class. There is so much variability in high school quality, that virtually nobody uses it as an indicator anymore.
You ACT Composite is EXTREMELY good…you beat me by 2 points. GPA is good, but nothing to write home about.
All things considered, I would say that you are a very competitive applicant…but only the admissions folks at WU can give you an answer there. What we think is completely irrelevant.
