switching from final cut pro to sony vegas?

I used final cut pro in high school and I am really good at it. But now i’m done and in college and cant afford a mac. Should I just switch to vegas? Its about 600 dollars and i can use a pc. What should i expect of vegas when coming from final cut pro. Is it easier, better, faster?
anything i should know about vegas? I plan on shooting short films (eventually features), music videos, skits, and weddings for my upcoming videography business.
whats the best computer for it under $700?

You will love sony vegas. Try to find a copy for students it only costs about 200 dallors. I use vegas for all of my video editing including weddings.
