I have to get a master's degree in International Relations or MBA in International Business?
I have a bachelor's degree in the study of Japan, and my long term goal should be the link between Japanese and U.S. companies, or between head and branch offices in two countries. MA in international relations appears to be more on the easy way and at first glance, more relevant to what I plan to do, but most students in these programs seem to come into public sector as diplomats and politicians, not so much in business. MBA in international business, it seems to have more prestige, but I'm afraid I will not be able to present themselves himself as an acceptable candidate: I've read that most of the programs MBA looking for a 5-year professional experience while I was a little less three. Besides, my experience limited ESL teaching, who have suffered for my long term career goals. I made a mistake in any of my assumptions? What degree of Would you recommend given my current situation?
You've made some good research. Most of the IR program almost exclusively focused on diplomacy and concentrate too much on theory and not enough on practice. In the long perspective, the best course work within two years of profit-oriented company, although it is not focused on international markets. As long as you no matter from the bottom well. Your combination of this background in teaching ESL and I hope fluent in Japanese should make you an ideal candidate for a good business school, if You have required classes and GMAT scores.
