Business Plan Finance Department
Is this a smart Educational plan? My Dean recommended it.?
I am going to a University, to get a Business Management degree, specializing in Finance. The Dean of my Business department told me that if I were to get a Law Degree, after acquiring my B.B.S. in Finance, that I would be well off on my way to Wall Street and Big Name firms/corporations because the combination of Finance and Law can take me a very long way and are a very impressive educational duo.
Should I consider her recommendation?
Yes, but…
If you are attending a big name university and after completing your undergraduate degree with honors do an MBA and JD at a ivy league or similar university, your record would indeed get you a job with the successor to Bear Stearns or a law firm it had on retainer. If you are a student in a second or third level university and get your law degree from a similar place, you are more likely to work in the mortgage department of the local bank (branch of a national bank) or represent it in foreclosure cases in the local county court.
