College path for fashion designers?

I know what I want to do with my life. I’m trying to graduate early from high school so I can get a head start in college.
I really want to become a fashion designer. I’ve been drawing for as long as I can remember. I’ve taken art classes since 2nd grade. But here’s the problem. I don’t know what I’m supposed to do.
I want to design, create and sell my own clothes. I want to own my own store, and I want to be able to make the clothes and then replicate them. I know I won’t be able to do this as soon as I get out of college, I know I’ll have to work for a company and such. But I don’t know what I’m supposed to do.
What should I major and minor in college? Should I major in business or art?

I would really appreciate your help. I’m planning on going to UVA for college (University of Virginia), but I’m not sure if they have an art school or something for fashion designing. Do you know?
I really need your help. THANKS!

I absolutely suggest majoring in business . You seem to have very high expectations and that is good, I wish you every success. One thing I do know that wether you become a fashion designer and able to sell you clothes, open a store, or create a line right away, You will need every bit of business wise you can find.

Designers need to understand the way retail works. How are you supposed to meet the demands if you know nothing about their business. So many..too many to count.. reasons why business, even if you planning on being a designer, is one of the best things you can do.

I know that maybe this isn’t the full answer you were looking for but I know that this is excellent advice. :)

Best Wishes
