Business Plan Farming Free

Why does the government subsidize farmers?
A farm is a business like any other. If Farmer Jones can’t cut it in the free market, perhaps he should move to town and go to work at the factory.
Yes, I know farms are subject to risks associated with the weather, but ALL businesses assume certain risks. If I buy a 7-11 and don’t sell as many Slurpees as I put into my business plan, will the feds send me a check, too?
iron: I thank the REAL producers, which are the mega-corporate farms. Ma and Pa Kettle with their 40 acre spreads don’t do squat.
meowzers: They grew it just fine for a few thousand years without subsidies, now didn’t they?
top: “Our” farmers? Do you keep one as a pet? Factory farms run more efficiently than do family farms. I’d be thrilled if the family farm DID disappear.
The government subsidizes farmers because they have a very influential lobby.
