MBA worth $75k or get a Masters of Public Affairs?

I am debating on whether I should invest $75k into an Executive MBA from the University of Texas or about $16-24k into a Master of Public Affairs at the LBJ School (UT also) instead.

I was a project manager for 4 years, ran my own real estate investment business/brokerage for 4 years, and now I’m a program manager at the state. I like what I do and prefer not to go back into corporate project management. I plan to obtain my PMP (Project Management Certification) within the next few months. My career goal is continue as a Public Program Manager, perhaps staying with the state for a while, but also having the option of starting my own firm or working as a consultant.

In your opinion, would an Exec MBA be worth $75k and two years of classes or would obtaining a Master in Public Affairs (four years of school) and the PMP at $25k combined cost help me achieve my goals?

so long as you’ll earn at least 75K when you finish the MBA, the UT MBA is the better choice. If you still want to go for the PMP, check PMI to see if UT has any PM certificate programs that would satisfy the educational PMP requirements. I did the exact same thing at Georgetown University.
